Why Should I Use the Plate-by-Plate ApproachÂŽ?

Why should you use the Plate-by-Plate ApproachÂŽ?

🍽Counting and tracking have been shown to increase psychological distress and eating disorder impairment (PMID: 28214452, 30772765, 28843591). Though the ED loves “exactness,” the Plate-by-Plate Approach® avoids a hyper-focus around numbers, counting, and measuring.

🍽 The Plate-by-Plate Approach® teaches clients to fill the plate up and to include all food groups. With the structure of 3 meals + 2-3 snacks, clients can meet medical, nutritional, and psychological goals including reversal of unstable vital signs, improvement in: hormones (estrogen/testosterone), bone health, metabolism, energy, sports performance, depression, and anxiety.

🍽 Can be used across all eating disorder diagnoses (see

www.edrdpro.com for webinar and case study presentation on how the approach is used in the treatment of anorexia, bulimia, BED, and ARFID)

🍽 It can be used to treat adolescents, adults, athletes.

🍽 Plates can be adjusted to meet a person’s needs/goals (there are two versions of the plate). Snacks can also be adjusted too (by frequency and size of snacks).

🍽 The Plate-by-Plate Approach® can accommodate those who are #lactoseintolerant, #glutenfree #vegetarian #vegan, and fits into many cultures. Families are asked, “What do you make at home?” And are guided based on the food they consume in their household.

🍽 It is easy to understand.

🍽 This approach helps you to add back the fun and enjoyment of eating.

🍽 It teaches normalcy around food from the beginning right through recovery.
