During Phase 1 of Family Based Treatment, the main focus is for parents to rescue their child who desperately needs help. It doesn't matter how they got there or why, just that they need help, now. "Jump in and rescue them even if they fight your efforts out of fear and confusion, and even if you have never been trained as a lifeguard."
